School had closed and every parent had already picked up their wards from school. Jimmie was the only ward still on campus being taken care of by one of his tutors. The tutor received a call and spoke with someone on the phone and little Jimmie was not privy to the conversation. The tutor announced to Jimmie that his dad was the one on the phone and he says he’s on his way to pick him up from school.
If you were Jimmie, what would have been your reaction?
The Church of Jesus Christ is at a stage where nothing seems to prepare us for the second coming. What we actually term to be preparation is what is really rendering us unprepared.
There is a lot of fear in the body of Christ; fear of accusations superseding commendations. We hear preachings screaming in pulpits about how bad we are in God’s sight and yet God hasn’t said anything like that. In fact He (through Paul the Apostle) tells us that He is not interested in what we did wrong.
1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
God doesn’t want to know anything we are doing, He wants to know whether we have a Crucified Christ! Throughout the New Testament, countless times, the Bible says he that believes in Jesus has life, he that says Jesus is Lord is of God, he that says Jesus came from the Father is saved and shall not die.
When the bible talks about believing and not dying, it talks about not dying in the spirit. Spiritual death is permanent separation from God. One can only be permanently separated from God when he is cast into hell where there is no redemption.
John 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
Those that ate manna are dead, and even those eat this bread Jesus is talking about do die in the flesh. Hence we realise that Jesus, being comparative, is not talking about physical death but spiritual. So he means to say all those who ate the manna are in hell, those who obeyed the law are in hell because salvation does not come by obeying the law. Never!!
Now he says that those who eat of “this bread” shall live for ever. This bread signifies a bread in the present and tangible and visible. Old things are passed away the new things are of God and when we eat these new things we will live forever.
Now through these, we understand that death is with respect to permanent separation from God (hell). And many preachers preach a message that imputes fear in the hearers making them to fear hell(death). Many Christians are afraid of hell so much that if they hear “Jesus is Coming soon” they become afraid. Jimmie’s reaction to the information that his father is coming to pick him up from school cannot be fear, unless Jimmie has a wicked and bad Father.
The fear of hell is the fear of death which is the fear of condemnation which also is the fear of eternal separation from God. There is no death or condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus because they have passed on from death unto life.
Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Jesus delivered us from the bondage which we entered because we are afraid of death. Death is hell remember? So those that fear hell don’t become righteous, instead they enter into bondage. Any preaching or teaching that imputes fear in you for the last day, the end time, the second coming is not spiritual but carnal or even demonic. Jesus took us out of the bondage of sin which we only enter because we fear hell.
Most preachers believe if they don’t scare the Church with the reality of hell, most people will end up there through the sin they commit. Well I hate to break it to you that those who are in Christ cannot make it to hell, Never!!
Unless you are a law abiding Christian. We are not supposed to be law abiding Christians, we are meant to be loved sons and faithful believers. The message that imparts fear instead of Grace is carefully crafted by the devil to get him more grounds to operate.
Move from fear today. Bible says in first John that, perfect love casts out fear. Perfect love is God gave His son to come and die for us. That’s enough to take fear from our hearts!
May God redeem you from fear in the name of Jesus!
